Cuphead Cartoon Coming to Netflix
/ Miguel Mendoza
Last year, Netflix and King Features Syndicate, Inc. announced to the world that they would be working on an all-new animated series called The Cuphead Show!, based on the popular award-winning run and gun videogame Cuphead. A few days ago, Netflix posted a video on their Twitch channel giving us a behind-the-scenes look into the upcoming cartoon.
The Cuphead Show! will expand upon the world of Inkwell Isles and will follow the comedic misadventures of the impulsive Cuphead and his cautious but easily swayed brother (and best boi), Mugman. Much like the source material it's based off of, the cartoon will follow a 1930s era rubber-hose style of animation.
This new cartoon looks promising as it is being handled by the likes of Dave Wasson, writer and director for Disney's Mickey Mouse Shorts, as well as Cosmo Segurson, director and storyboard artist for shows such as Camp Lazlo!, SpongeBob SquarePants, and last year's Rocko's Modern Life: Static Cling. The show is also being executively product by the game creators Chad and Jared Moldenhauer from StudioMDHR, the developers of the Cuphead game.
