August 2025 PS Plus Game and Classic Catalog Update: Mortal Kombat 1, Unicorn Overlord, and More
/What’s New in PS Plus August 2025
Sony has revealed the PlayStation Plus Game Catalog lineup for August 2025, and it looks to be another strong month as there’s a lot that caught my eye. Eleven titles are arriving this month, headlined by Mortal Kombat 1, the latest entry in the popular fighting game franchise. We also have one day 1 release title in this batch, and that’s Sword of Sea, from the visionary artist behind ABZÛ.
We also have the strategy game Unicorn Overlord from Vanillaware and Atlus, Coral Island for those looking for a relaxing new game to boot up, and the original Resident Evil 2 and Resident Evil 3: Nemesis added to the Classic catalog.
Here’s the full list of what’s being added this month.
PS Plus Game Catalog – August 2025 (For Extra and Premium/Deluxe Members)
Mortal Kombat 1 (PS5)
Marvel’s Spider-Man (PS5,PS4)
Sword of Sea (Day 1 release, PS5)
Earth Defense Force 6 (PS5, PS4)
Unicorn Overlord (PS5, PS4)
Atelier Ryza 3: Alchemist of the End & the Secret Key (PS5, PS4)
Indika (PS5)
Harold Halibut (PS5)
Coral Island (PS5)
PS Plus Classics Catalog – August 2025 (For Premium/Deluxe Members)
Resident Evil 2 (PS5, PS4)
Resident Evil 3: Nemesis (PS5,PS4)
All these games will become available for PS Plus members starting August 19.
On the same day, Premium members can also try Death Stranding 2 on the Beach through PS Plus’ Game Trials, as you have five hours of the game for free. If you ever pick up the full game, you can continue where you left off. It’s worth a try, as it’s an easy 5/5 from me as it is without a doubt a Game of the Year contender for 2025.
August 2025 Monthly Games Recap
The Monthly Games for August 2025, subscribers can add Lies of P, Dayz, and My Hero One’s Justice 2 as these games have been available to subscribers since June 1. This offer will be available until July 30.
My time with Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3 + 4 made me realize how overdue we are for a brand-new entry. This is a franchise that doesn’t need to reinvent itself to stay relevant. Sometimes, being fun is enough, and this remake delivers just that.
