NBA 2K21 On The PS5 and Xbox Series X Will Cost $10 More

It was announced that NBA 2K21 will have two versions and will be priced differently - standard copies of NBA 2k21’s PS4 and Xbox One versions will still be priced at $59.99, while a standard copy of the PS5 and Xbox Series X versions will cost $69.99.
NBA 2K21 doesn’t feature an upgrade option if one buys the standard copy of the game on current-gen consoles but they do offer cross-gen support to those that buy the Mamba Forever Edition which is priced at $99.99. Buying this edition on either the PS4 or Xbox One will earn you a copy of the next-gen version of the game at no cost. Pre-orders for the NBA 2k21 Mamba Edition are now available.

During a Gamelab conference back in June, former PayStation executive Shawn Layden talked about AAA games development and mentioned that the price tag has remained $59.99 since he started in the business while the cost of making such high-quality games have gone up by a large margin.
"If you don't have elasticity on the price-point, but you have huge volatility on the cost line, the model becomes more difficult. I think this generation is going to see those two imperatives collide.",” says Layden.
This is the first next-gen title to announce a price over the traditional $59.99 for a standard copy. This also gives us an idea on what to expect as more publishers and developers price their titles as we transition to next generation of consoles.
NBA 2K21 will be available on PS4 and Xbox One on September 4, 2020, while next-gen versions of the game will be out Holiday 2020.
