Outriders Surpasses 3.5 Million Players During It's First Month
/ Carlos HernandezSquare Enix announced that People Can Fly’s looter shooter Outriders did pretty well during it’s first month as over 3.5 million unique players jumped into the game and spent an average of over 30 hours exploring the planet Enoch.
“Launching a new game IP is never easy and we remain very grateful for the community’s support and feedback – we continue to listen carefully and want to assure everyone that we are committed to improving and enhancing the experience in the coming weeks and months. We also look forward to expanding on OUTRIDERS in the future.” says Jon Brooke, Co-head of Studio at Square Enix External Studios.
This is a good sign for the new IP developed by Bulletstorm studio People Can Fly, especially after hearing players spent at least a good amount of time with the game. Despite having launch issues with cross-play, the game received positive reviews from critics and fans of the genre. I too enjoyed my time with this looter shooter as it reminded me of Borderlands or even Diablo thanks to it’s gameplay loop of just killing whatever moves and picking up whatever drops.
For those not familiar, Outriders is a third-person looter shooter equipped with a satisfying itemization and progression system that covers different playstyles that you can easily find yourself spending more than 50 hours either alone or with other players online.

You get to play the start of the game for free up to level 7, with enough content to give you a clear idea of it’s gameplay, setting, and story. The upcoming action adventure Stellar Blade comes out on April 26 and before launch it was updated with a new game plus patch, allowing players to carry over most of their progress and unlocks to a new playthrough, playing the game from the very beginning.
Stellar Blade’s potential was clear, but as its ambitions expanded into something greater, it lost focus. As soon as Stellar Blade tries to bring everything together, it merges into a single figure that looks deformed and uneven. The quality is unquestionable but it wasn’t the final product I was slowly building in my head as I went through the game’s first half.
The Helldivers 2 controversy has gone from bad to worse within days as the 4-player co-op shooter can no longer be purchased on Steam in countries that do not have PlayStation Network support (PSN).
