Outriders Weekend Launch Affected By Servers And Connection Issues

Outriders officially launched on April 1 and while thousands flocked to explore the latest looter shooter to experience its lengthy campaign, the next few days eventually led to a couple of server shutdowns that left the game unplayable for a short period of time.

This isn’t the best outcome for an online game with no offline feature available. The server issues that affected all players mostly happened on April 4.

They eventually got it up and running but so far the devs hasn’t stated what exactly happened.

Maybe the influx of players during the weekend was too much for their servers? We don’t know for sure but it looks like the folks at People Can Fly are keen to sharing more details as to what went wrong over the weekend.

This isn’t the only issue that is currently affecting Outriders as crossplay is still not working as intended as players are experiencing being killed out of a game when a console and PC join the group. So far, there’s no fix but the devs are aware and is working on a fix that will come in an upcoming patch.

It’s pretty messy to a point that they’ve turned off automatic matchmaking between PC and consoles for the time being.

Matchmaking is pretty bad in general at the moment as during my time with the campaign I have failed to group with a random player. The game was able to find a group that I can join but always fail in connect me with the group.

Online features and connectivity is currently an issues among anything else, and just in case you are experiencing some kind of server issue, or maybe game issue, there’s a Reddit thread listing all the known issues and the possible workarounds to help you out

So far, the issues are all online-related as far as I can tell. For the game itself, I just finished the campaign and spent a roughly 25 hours to reach the end, doing all the sidequests and leaving a few activities like hunts or bounty hunts to complete in the coming days. My full impression of the game and it’s campaign will be out soon and a full review of Outriders will come once I’ve fully grasped the game’s grindy endgame content called Expeditions.
