TMG Podcast #200 - Taste The Mako
/ Carlos Hernandez[Warning: the episode featured will contain minor spoilers of the original Final Fantasy VII game that came out back in 1997]
What? 200 episodes?
Yes, we've been talking about video games for that long and it doesn't look like we are stopping anytime soon.
As the podcast moved forward, the crew has ventured into other ways to provide content through writing, videos, and the current craze - streaming. But even with us doing different things, the TMG Podcast is still here to provide a space to discuss and appreciate the world of video games.
This episode is focused on the most-awaited title in 2020 - Final Fantasy 7 Remake. Carlos, Miggy, and Matthew have played it (two of us already finished the game) and tackled different parts of the game that were fantastic but also highlight it’s faults.
Intro and outro music heard in the TMG Podcast was created by MrBulbamike.
The upcoming action adventure Stellar Blade comes out on April 26 and before launch it was updated with a new game plus patch, allowing players to carry over most of their progress and unlocks to a new playthrough, playing the game from the very beginning.
Stellar Blade’s potential was clear, but as its ambitions expanded into something greater, it lost focus. As soon as Stellar Blade tries to bring everything together, it merges into a single figure that looks deformed and uneven. The quality is unquestionable but it wasn’t the final product I was slowly building in my head as I went through the game’s first half.
The Fallout TV series that debuted on Amazon’s Prime Video streaming service is successful as many flock to Bethesda’s latest Fallout titles, including their online offering Fallout 76, which saw 1 million new players trying out the game soon after the first season of the show dropped on April 10.
Sega and Atlus announced that their upcoming JRPG Metaphor: ReFantazio is set to launch on October 11, 2024, for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC (via Steam). They also revealed a new trailer, what you get if you pre-order, and revealed the contents of the 35th anniversary edition of the game.
The upcoming action adventure game Stellar Blade’s X account has announced that their game will be uncensored in all regions when it hits the PlayStation 5 on April 26. This is to appease players of the state of the game at launch as some PlayStation titles have regional variations censoring certain content, as many were worried that Stellar Blade could be given a similar treatment depending on the region.
Red Hook Studios announced they are bringing their punishing roguelike turned-based RPG Darkest Dungeon 2 to PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4 on July 15, 2024. The base game as well as the DLC ‘The Binding Blade’ and the Oblivion bundle - containing the base game and DLC - will be available as cross-buy across PlayStation 4 and 5.
I got to talk with the developers of Fallen Tear: The Ascension and I emerged from the interview not only intrigued by what they are creating but also impressed by the passion the developers infused into the project.
In the grand scheme of things, Capcom has delivered a sequel to make Dragon’s Dogma fans happy and wishing for more, but this isn’t a massive upgrade. Rather, it’s a modernization of the overall concept as the highs and lows of the first game mirror the sequel. If you can weather the storm that is Dragon’s Dogma 2, you might come out as one of the players who consider this one of the best RPG experiences they’ve ever played, or simply the worst.
Sony Interactive Entertainment has updated that a whopping 25 games are scheduled to leave PlayStation Plus’ Games catalog on May 21, 2024, and six classic Final Fantasy titles are on the list.
Fallout 4 is getting a free update on April 25, which adds 60 fps options, increased resolutions for current-gen consoles PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, and more content.
