Insomniac Games has announced that Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart has gone gold and is set for it’s June 11, 2021 release.
For those new to the term “gone gold”, this means that a developer working on a game has completed development and is ready for mass production in preparation for it’s release. Insomniac Games took to Twitter to make the announcement.

Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart will be the second title since the reboot of the series back in 2016 titled Ratchet & Clank.
Here’s a quick overview via PlayStation:
“Blast your way through an interdimensional adventure. Go dimension-hopping with Ratchet and Clank as they take on an evil emperor from another reality. Jump between action-packed worlds, and beyond at mind-blowing speeds—complete with dazzling visuals and an insane arsenal—as the intergalactic adventurers blast onto the PlayStation 5 console.”
It’s crazy that Insomniac Games was able to ship two high-profile games on a new console in a span of 7 months during a global pandemic. Insomniac’s Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales was a launch title for the PS5 but was also available on the PS4. Rift Apart will be their first PS5 only title and to see them release both this close apart is impressive.

So far, I’ve been loving my new console. It truly feels like a generational leap from the original Switch, even if its core concept remains the same. This may be simply an iterative, straightforward improvement over the original system, but I guess the thinking is that as the saying goes, “if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.”
