No Man's Sky Teases It's 17th Free Big Update In 5th Anniversary Video

No Man’s Sky is still alive and kicking. The space exploration survival game released in 2016 launched with many disappointment on the final product, but the developers at Hello Games maintained their course at supporting the game and is now a well-received title after 16 free big updates after 5 years. To celebrate the game’s 5th anniversary, a new video was released to showcase the game’s growth all these years and towards the end, teased the next expansion coming to the game.

I still recall how everybody felt when No Man’s Sky launched. We were promised the moon so expectations were high , but was delivered was a universe filled with barren planets. seamless transition from one planet to the next with little activity to do in order to make your mark in this world. Even multiplayer didn’t make it in the game at the beginning. In summary, it was deemed an utter disappointment on it’s first year.

But that’s all changed now. Hello Games managed to turn the narrative through various free updates starting with the Foundations update that allowed players to build their own base on planets. From there, land vehicles were made available, a full multiplayer offering to group with friends, mechs, underwater exploration, improved graphical overhaul, a bigger universe, the list goes on as No Man’s Sky seems to be on track to provide an expansive space exploration that could entice those that are eager for such journeys.

Hello Games is not stopping anytime soon with the free updates as the anniversary video ended with a tease for the 17th expansion called Frontiers.

“Our next update Frontiers is something I’m very excited about. In some ways it is just another update, but in other ways it’s a missing piece of the sci-fi fantasy that we’ve always wanted to add, and very fitting for our fifth anniversary.” says Sean Murray, founder of Hello Games in a PlayStation blog post reflecting the journey he and his team went through when they started working on this project.

If you’re one of the players that own a copy and shelved it it’s first year, I suggest you pick it up again and give it a shot this time around. You might be surprised by what you see.
