PlayStation Plus September 2025 Monthly Games Lineup: Psychonauts 2, Stardew Valley, Viewfinder
/Sony has officially revealed the free PlayStation Plus Monthly Games lineup for September 2025, and it’s a decent offering. Starting September 2, subscribers will get access to Psychonauts 2, Stardew Valley, and Viewfinder.
PlayStation Plus Monthly Games for September 2025
Available Starting September 2
Psychonauts 2
Stardew Valley
Viewfinder
Among the three games on offer, Viewfinder stands out as it’s a unique first-person puzzle game that uses perspective in its puzzles. If done right, the pictures you gather can be placed into your reality to progress. It’s a mind-bending concept that impressed players and critics in 2023. It even won a BAFTA for Best British Game and was nominated for Best Debut Game, Game Design, and New Intellectual Property.
We then have Stardew Valley, which I think is a must-have in your library of games, digitally or physically, as it’s just a cozy, charming game that just about anyone can enjoy. It’s what Harvest Moon should have been in this generation, as there’s something about managing your farm and slowly building it by creating various products to sell. You can go spelunking at a nearby cave to uncover more secrets and join the town events to get to know the characters more. Local and online co-op are also available, making it a perfect game to invite a significant other, a good friend, or a family member.
Psychonauts 2 is a nice addition for members who are very familiar with the first game. Released in 2021, Tim Schafer and his team at Double Fine finally did a sequel, and it was received positively as it reached 87 on Metacritic. I can’t say much about this one as I have yet to play it.
What’s the Difference Between Monthly Games and the Game Catalog?
Just to clear things up, Monthly Games and the games available in the Game and Classic Catalog are different. So, here’s the breakdown:
Monthly Games are available to all PlayStation Plus subscribers (Essential, Extra, and Premium). Once you claim them, they’re yours to keep in your library for as long as you remain subscribed — there’s no expiration date.
The Game Catalog (and Classic Catalog) is only available to Extra and Premium subscribers. These libraries offer a rotating selection of games, which can be played while they’re available. However, unlike Monthly Games, titles in the catalog can leave the service, meaning you lose access even if you’re still subscribed.
There’s still time to claim the August 2025 Monthly Games, which features the souslike Lies of P, DayZ, and My Hero One’s Justice 2. These games will remain available to claim for your account until September 1.
For those wondering about the latest additions to the higher tiers of PlayStation Plus, the following games were added to the Game and Classic catalog in August 2025 as Mortal Kombat 1, Sword of the Sea, and even the original Resident Evil 2 and Resident Evil 3 games were added for the Classic Catalog.

This type of game design just doesn’t appeal to everyone, so while I can’t give this collection a perfect score, it is a must-buy for fans of old-school shooters.
