HoYoverse Reveals Honkai: Nexus Anima, Beta Sign-Ups Now Live
/HoYoverse has officially announced Honkai: Nexus Anima, the next entry in its long-running Honkai franchise. First teased during the Honkai: Star Rail anniversary concert in May 2025, the game is now revealed as a creature-collecting strategy RPG.
This is aWhile it introduces an entirely new chapter to the Honkai series, Nexus Anima retains the familiar anime-style visuals and polished animation that fans expect from HoYoverse.
What Is Honkai: Nexus Anima?
Here’s a description of the game based on a press release provided by HoYoverse:
“In this world, Nexus is the unseen bonds woven between paired concepts, such as Love and Hate, Light and Dark, Life and Death, among many others. However, this balance is unexpectedly shattered when a sudden rupture severs those connections, scattering their remnant powers across the land in the form of Anima. From this fractured order, players embark on a journey: through missions and combat, they forge bonds with these Anima, unlocking abilities that reflect the unique concepts each embodies. Moreover, these abilities can be combined to create diverse battle tactics and influence how players explore and engage with the expansive overworld.”
Players take the role of a plane-hopping traveler who has escaped captivity. The journey begins in Tranquil Town, where you’ll start forging bonds with Anima companions, each with distinct personalities, abilities, and roles in both combat and exploration.
Based on early screenshots, combat in Honkai: Nexus Anima resembles an auto-battler format. Your team of Anima companions faces off against enemy teams, though it’s not yet clear how much direct control players will have during battles.
Recruiting new companions is expected to follow a similar gacha-style system found in past Honkai titles, where players can pull for powerful Anima to enhance their team.
Closed Beta Test: Nexus Bond Test Registrations Now Open
HoYoverse has also announced the game’s first closed beta, officially called the Nexus Bond Test. Registration is now open for a limited time on PC and iOS until September 12, 2025.
Interested players must complete a questionnaire to be considered for selection. Those chosen will get an early chance to experience Honkai: Nexus Anima before its official release.
