Originally released on the Switch, PS4, Xbox One, and PC back in June of 2019, Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night is a side-scrolling action-adventure RPG in the genre that is colloquially known as Metroidvania or IGAvania. This game has the interesting history of being one of the most successful crowd funded games on Kickstarter racking in more than $5.5 million worth in pledges by nearly 65,000 backers. By no means does it reinvent the wheel but is instead a return to formula with a few modern quality of life improvements.
