Weekend, what are you playing?

Wake me up when September ends... HELLZ NO! video games, front and center! What are you playing?

Migoy: Most of my Saturday was spent being out at an event at Robinsons Ermita and then having a Good Burger run after with some friends after. But I had WoL (my PSP3000) with me and in it I have Dragon Ball Z: Tenkaichi Tag Team to go with my current Super Saiyan craze. Perhaps you could catch me playing it on the feed or maybe I'll dive into an older Tenkaichi title on the Wii for some Ki blasting goodness.

Arlie: I've been playing Demon's Souls this week. I still don't get the Black/White World Tendency System, and I'm having trouble finding Scirvir on Stonefang Tunnel 2-2 on White World Tendency. I also received my early access PS3 beta key for Assassin's Creed: Revelations Multiplayer that I've been waiting for yesterday, almost 2.8GB of download + 150MB patch.

Quash: Playing Deus Ex: Human Revolution. The game's awesome and I've been playing it non-stop. Aside from the sneaking, hacking, fail firefights, and the constant reading of people's emails,I'm having loads of fun exploring the world of Deus Ex. I can already see myself finding a copy of the first Deus Ex.

I also tried the Resistance 3 multiplayer beta and didn't like it that much. I was never into the Resistance series. Wonder how long Resistance 3 multiplayer will last when Battlefield 3 and MW3 comes out?

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 - Multiplayer World Premiere

The first Call of Duty expo, Call of Duty XP starts now, and to kick off this 2-day event, they reveal the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 multiplayer trailer.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=kuOCCeXlszw

It's pretty much showing the new perks, equipment, killstreaks added in Modern Warfare 3's multiplayer. Infinity Ward and Sledgehammer says their focus is all about balancing the multiplayer. So you won't see perks like One Man Army, Commando, and Last Stand(Yes!). Killstreaks have also been changed. You can still earn killstreak rewards by stacking the kills, but now you can earn killstreak rewards with killstreak points. These points are earned by capturing flags, doing objectives, etc. so team players will be able to earn something even though their not owning that many people.

Killstreaks are now placed in what they call Strike Packages. There's three packages to choose from - Assault, Support, and Specialist. Assault and support have a different set of killstreaks to suit your play style, but the one package that looks very interesting is the Specialist Package. The Specialist Package does not earn airstrikes or air support when you start racking the kills. Instead, you earn more perks. Starting with the regular 3 perks, as you keep killing, you start stacking more perks to keep you going. When you die though, you start from scratch again.

They also revealed their new game mode called Kill Confirm. Kill Confirm is a Team Deathmatch with a twist. When you kill an opponent, a dog tag drops on top of their body, you'll have to pick it up in order to count it as an actual kill. Now if you see an ally's dog tag lying around, you can deny that kill by picking it up.

Call of Duty XP is currently on Livestream, so if your interested in watching the rest of the show go check it out. Been watching it for a bit and so far this is what I've learned watching it at 3am. They revealed another trailer showing more  footage of multiplayer, will update the post when they release the video.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 will be out on November 8 for Xbox 360, Playstation 3, and PC.

Dead Island release trailer

It's finally September, and we're one week and a day away to the release of Dead Island. I don't know about you guys, but I'm always excited for a zombie game, especially one that has 4-player co-op and RPG elements. Deep Silver launched their release trailer hoping to make Dead Island look epic enough for other people to get interested.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cGnALtczXxA&feature=channel_video_title Maybe a little blunder on their part?or maybe just lazy to make another version of it, but the NA version of this trailer(the one above) says "Out Now" at the end. The Europe version of the trailer is exactly the same except but it says "Pre-order now" at the end. No biggie, it will eventually be true, just wanted to pointed that out. NA is getting the game first on Sept. 6, while Everybody else will have the game by the 9th.

For the people in the Philippines, aim for the Sept 9 release. There's still a chance we might get it around the NA release but it's a slim chance. As usual, we will know on the said date. I really hope this game is as good as it looks. Still have that feeling that we might get a shock for the worse when we actually get the game, but since the concept is so good, it's worth the risk for me.

Super Portal Bros?

Apparently the chubby, mushroom addicted, plumber will be getting Valve's famous Portal Gun. This isn't just a mod of Super Mario Bros. but is an actual game that is developed. I remember seeing a flash movie of Mario with a Portal Gun by Dorkly and I'm surprised (and glad) that someone is turning that concept into a real game.

Here is some of the info from the developer's blog at stabyourself.net

Mari0 factsheet

Since Mari0 is suddenly popular, I guess posting some information will be useful.

  • Yes, this is an actual game being developed - it is not a mod of any existing one. It’s coded with Löve (info at the bottom of the left menu) and will be released for free (so we don’t get stabbed by lawyers)
  • All the source code of the game will be available after release
  • The game will have mappacks, which will be downloadable from ingame. Users most likely won’t be able to publish maps directly, but will be able to send them in and we’ll add them for everyone to use.
  • The primary maps will have a story and some portaly puzzles. What kind, well, we’ll figure that out as we go
  • Level editor will be embedded in the game so you can edit the level while you play
  • Original SMB levels and Lost levels will be included
  • Simultaneous Multiplayer

Speaking of which, here’s a pic

XCOM E3 2011 demo

Just like Bioshock: Infinite and Metro: First Light, 2k Games Only showed a new trailer for their take on XCOM with their gameplay demo only shown for the people at E3. Now they finally released the demo with commentary. I've said this before and I'll say it again, "why is XCOM an FPS!?".

I mean, I love XCOM. It was an amazing game back then. Why can't they just improve the old concept instead? XCOM was originally a strategy game with turn-based actions, and it's pretty deep for a game made in 1994. Commanding your two agents and the weapon research is the only thing in this game that is true to the old XCOM games. Newcomers to XCOM might have a kick out of this, but gamers that knew the old XCOM games won't like the direction that 2k Games took for their take on XCOM.

Here's an idea of the original game. I remember me being pretty cautious since an alien can be in any corner to ambush your men. It's all about strategy.
