Ubisoft will be shutting down their free-to-play battle royale shooter Hyper Scape

It was a good run but Ubisoft’s take on the battle royale formula is coming to an end as the company announced that they will shut down the free-to-play shooter for good on April 28.

Hyper Scape went live for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC on August 11, 2020 and provided a high-paced battle royal with a lot of verticality in their level design. Sadly, with this announcement, the free-to-play shooter failed to hold a strong player base as Ubisoft is pulling the plug in less than two years since launch.

“We have made the difficult decision to end development of Hyper Scape and shut the game down as of April 28th. We set out to create a vertical, close-quarters, and fast-paced shooter experience and we are extremely grateful to our community for joining us on our journey. We will be taking key learnings from this game into future products.” says the developers in their brief announcement post on the game’s closure.

Players still loyal to the game must have seen it coming as the last major update for Hyper Scape was back in April 2021.
