IO Interactive giving free Hitman 3 upgrades via Steam due to rough launch

IO Interactive’s Hitman 3 is finally available on Steam but it didn’t have the best launch as the Steam version was left with many complaints, which resulted in the developers giving players a free upgrade.

It’s the latest title to receive a review-bomb in user reviews in the Steam platform as many complained that Hitman 3, a game that launched as a timed exclusive on the Epic Games Store last year, should have been released on Steam at a lower price as it’s priced at full price in most regions.

But the criticism of Hitman 3’s launch doesn’t end there. Users eager to purchase the game via Steam were left confused by the many versions of the game - Standard, Deluxe, Seven Deadly Sins Collection, Trilogy, Trilogy + Premium Add-Ons, Hitman 3 Access Pass: Hitman 2 Gold. And they have a point.

This resulted in Hitman 3 to hit Steam with a ‘mixed’ rating after 900+ user reviews were posted, so developer IO Interactive responded with free upgrades.

Those that have purchased a standard version of Hitman 3 will be given a free upgrade to Hitman 3 Deluxe Edition. Those who picked up Hitman Trilogy, a collection that includes Hitman 1, Hitman 2, and Hitman 3, will get a free upgrade to the Seven Deadly Sins Collection, which is the post-DLC content released for Hitman 3 so far. Those planning to get either the standard or trilogy version of the game before February 19, 2022 will be given these free upgrades.

A good portion of the community seem to be happy with the offer after the bad launch, but many still think this doesn’t fix the current issues many were complaining about in the first place.

The release of Hitman 3 on Steam marks the beginning of the game’s Year 2 of content which includes new content such as Hitman VR, elusive target arcade game mode, and more.
