Sifu hit one million sales in its first three weeks of release

Sifu launched digitally on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, and PC through the Epic Games Store back in February 8, and developer Sloclap announced that the game reached one million sales in its first three weeks of release.

The developer then shared more details of the difficult action game:

  • Over 10 million hours have been played so far

  • Only 45% of players have completed the second level

  • Over 150,000 players have mastered kung fu enough to beat the game’s antagonist Yang

The game is crazy difficult but in a good way, though I didn’t expect 45% of its players to have only reached the third level. Those hoping to have an easier time will be pleased to know that the developers are indeed planning more difficulty options as a future update is currently in the works to make the game more accessible to a wider player base.

“We set out to create an authentic, kung fu action game that paid homage to our favorite kung fu films. We’re thankful for our fans around the world but we are especially humbled by the incredible reception the game has had in China. Our internal metric of success was how well the game was received there and knowing that fans in China are the largest segment of our sales outside of North America and the positive reviews from Chinese critics means a lot to us” says Sloclap executive producer Pierre Tarno in a press release given.

Sifu is currently available digitally on PS5, PS4, and PC through Epic Games Store, but the game will hit retail on May 3.
