It finally happened - Minecraft players on the PS4 can now join Xbox One and Nintendo Switch players. The console cross-play trinity is complete.

This means that the Bedrock update of Minecraft is coming to the PlayStation 4 on December 10, 2019. The update includes a unified online store, cross-platform servers, cross-saves, and more. Owners of the PS4 version of Minecraft just needs to update their game online in order to enable cross-play.

Look at that. All three consoles in one advertising video. Such a rare and beautiful sight.

Microsft and Nintendo have been on-board to providing cross-play support for Minecraft way back in 2017, but it was PlayStation that wasn’t too keen at working together at the time. Now, they are more open to the feature as more games are now being given cross-play support. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, the latest title in the Call of Duty series, launched with cross-play support for PS4, Xbox One, and PC players.

Minecraft has provided an FAQ if you still have questions on the transition and how to properly use the cross-play feature.
