Square Enix had a lot to show during the September 2021 Nintendo Direct presentation from a new look at strategy RPG Triangle Strategy, racing game Chocobo GP, and a remaster of the 2D action platformer classic Actraiser Renaissance.

Project Triangle Strategy is officially called Triangle Strategy

Coming in March is Triangle Strategy, a strategy RPG from the developers that brought us Octopath Traveler, gives us a new look at the game and points out that they’ve changed a few things due to player feedback based on the demo released back in February.  You can see what changed here but what’s interesting is that it looks like they are sticking with the name Triangle Strategy in the end as it’s set to launch on March 4, 2022.

Putting the silly name aside, it’s looking rather good. If you appreciate games like Final Fantasy Tactics, Disgea, and other strategy titles, you’ll want to keep an eye on this one.

Kart racing meets Final Fantasy’s Chocobo

If you remember having a good time with the 1999 racing game Chocobo Racing, you’re probably surprised to hear Square Enix is working on another one for the Nintendo Switch called Chocobo GP. Set for a 2022 release, this is another kart game with drift boost and attacks that could give you an advantage in a race. You know the drill.

You get to play as popular Final Fantasy characters such as Shiroma, Vivi, and of course the cute chocobo on roller skates.

Surprise! Actraiser Renaissance remastered out now!

It was surprising enough that Square Enix announced a remaster of the Super Nintendo classic classic Actraiser Renaissance, but they shocked many to also reveal that it will be available today for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PC , and mobile devices.

If you compare the original look to the remaster, it’s quite impressive to say the least. The 2D platformer that also acts as a city-building simulator game features new levels, magic, a new boss, and 15 new soundtracks from composer Yuzo Koshiro. Modern quality of life improvements were implemented as well, such as the ability to auto-save, change the difficulty setting dodging, and a music mode.

The Actraiser Renaissance remaster is priced at $40. On Steam, it costs PHP1,480.
