It was announced last year that Capcom is partnering with Netflix for an anime series based on Dragon’s Dogma, their action RPG title released back in 2012. Now, it looks like the anime series is well underway as it’s set to debut on the streaming platform this September.

Capcom also released a quick synopsis of the anime’s story:
” After more than 100 years, the dragon suddenly appeared and consumed the village. Ethan confronts the dragon to protect his beloved family, but his heart was taken by the dragon. Ethan, who seemed to have died, revives as the ‘Arisen’ and embarks on a journey to regain his heart with Hannah, the Pawn who suddenly appeared in front of Ethan. While continuing the journey, Ethan will battle with monsters that embody the seven deadly sins, but each time he defeats the monster, he himself will also gradually lose his humanity…”
Aside from that, not much is know but it’s safe to say that the anime starts just like in the game — where your custom-made characters loses his heart during a futile attempt to save his village.
The Dragon’s Dogma anime is set to debut on September 17 and Capcom also released stills of the show to give us an idea of the show’s art style.
Battling monsters that “embody the seven deadly sins”? I’ll keep an open mind and hopefully we see Ethan climb monstrosities and let go because he ran out of stamina. At the very least, it’s interesting to see Capcom invest in such a series and it’s success could potentially put a Dragon’s Dogma sequel on the table.
