Ubisoft Confirms Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced

Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced key art teased by Ubisoft.

Ubisoft has provided an update on what’s next for the Assassin’s Creed franchise, officially confirming that the long-rumored Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag remake is real.

The blog post simply mentioned the project is real and gave a key art of the project (shown above) as a teaser. Beyond that teaser image, the update mainly focuses on other Assassin’s Creed projects currently in development.

What’s coming for Assassin’s Creed?

Codename Invictus

Ubisoft confirmed that Codename Invictus is a PvP multiplayer game set in the Assassin’s Creed universe. The post notes that the project “isn’t quite what the rumors have suggested,” though no additional details were provided.

Codename Hexe

Assassin's Creed Codename Hexe remains in development. Ubisoft says they plan to stay quiet as they work toward delivering the “ambitious vision” for the game.

The project was first teased in 2022 and is widely understood to have a darker tone with themes centered around witchcraft.

Overall, the update is fairly vague and seems positioned as a lead-in to the upcoming livestream celebrating the first anniversary of Assassin's Creed Shadows on Twitch.

Assassin’s Creed Unity Getting a 60 FPS Patch

The most clear section of the brand update is that Assassin's Creed Unity is finally receiving a 60 FPS patch as it arrives natively on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S on March 6.

Assassin’s Creed TV Series Update

Ubisoft also briefly mentioned the upcoming Assassin’s Creed TV series, hinting that we may see something from the show later this year.

For an update, there’s not much to really go on as it felt like they needed to bring out something to assure fans that they are working on the next projects for the series. This gives me the impression that Assassin’s Creed in 2026 will mostly be about teasing, but it’s still possible we might see the Black Flag remake release in the latter half of 2026 just to have something for the year. But then, we have the big one that is Grand Theft Auto IV looming over the rest of 2026.
