God of War Director Swears There're No Microtransactions In God of War

A screenshot showing a kind of currency in God of War sparked fears that the upcoming action game will feature microtransactions.
Twitter user @deviance23 shared a screenshot that highlighted what appears to be a form of in-game coinage and asked Sony Santa Monica if there would be microtransactions, with cosmetics suggested as the possible use for this currency. If that were the case, it would paint God of War with the same stripe as games like Shadow of War and Assassin's Creed: Origins: single player games with in-game purchases.
Thankfully, God of War director Cory Barlog quickly responded via his own Twitter account. Barlog responded unequivocally, "No freakin way!!!"
And there you have it. Last minute shenanigans or bald-faced tomfoolery notwithstanding, God of War will have no microtransactions.
