Enshrouded Update 7: Wake of the Water Launches October 2025
/During Gamescom 2025 Opening Night Live, developer Keen Games revealed Wake of the Water, the next major content update for their open-world survival RPG Enshrouded. The update brings in one of the community’s most requested features: water.
Based on the game’s feedback board, the inclusion of water into the game was one of the top upvoted threads among the game’s community.
What’s Coming in Wake of the Water
This marks the seventh major update since Enshrouded launched in Early Access, and it’s shaping up to be one of the biggest yet. Here’s what players can expect:
New water biome with a cool, tropical vibe for relaxing or terraforming in beach-side
Lizard-like enemy faction, looking like they need sunscreen
Two-handed weapon that puts the “great” in Greatsword
Voxel-based water simulation that can be used in building, for swimming in, fishing, aqueducting, more — and it doesn’t appear at all cube-like!
No exact release date was given for Wake of the Water.
Keen Games have been actively updating the game since it was released in early access in January 2024. At this point, it’s well worth the entry cost as there is tons of content for any veteran survival player would appreciate. Since it hit early access, the game has garnered a user review score rating of ‘Very Positive’ through over 38K overall.
Enshrouded has seen over four million players since the early access release in January 2024.
Enshrouded seems to be on track for the 1.0 full release, but players will have to wait a bit longer as they are aiming for a full release sometime in 2026.
Enshrouded’s next update wasn’t the only announcement during Gamescom’s Opening Night Live, as there were a ton of big reveals and announcements during the two-hour show. I gathered all the biggest announcements and reveals during ONL in place so you can skim for a recap.

This type of game design just doesn’t appeal to everyone, so while I can’t give this collection a perfect score, it is a must-buy for fans of old-school shooters.
