Arrowhead Game Studios has unveiled the next big update coming to their 4-player co-op game Helldivers 2. Titled Escalation of Freedom, this update adds new content such as new enemy types for both the Terminids and Automatons, new mission objectives, new weather conditions, and more.

Sony Interactive Entertainment announced that the live service game Helldivers 2 is now PlayStation’s fastest-selling game launch ever as the 4-player co-op shooter reached over 12 million copies sold across PC and PS5 in the first 12 weeks. This also makes the shooter PlayStation’s biggest PC game to date.

Sony PlayStation announced that they are no longer pushing through with implementing the requirement of linking a PSN account to your Steam account in order to play 4-player co-op shooter Helldivers 2. This was due to major backlash from the Helldivers community when it was announced back in May 3, 2024.

The Helldivers 2 controversy has gone from bad to worse within days as the 4-player co-op shooter can no longer be purchased on Steam in countries that do not have PlayStation Network support (PSN). I checked if I can purchase the game here in the Philippines and true enough, the option to purchase the game wasn’t available.

This latest title from Arrowhead Games offers a fresh take on premium content and progression that makes me look at the popular battle pass system differently, a system that has become the standard for live service titles.

Arrowhead Games Studios seems to be in full swing in supporting their 4-player co-op shooter Helldivers 2 as they just revealed the game’s next premium Warbond, which features a series of new weapons, new armor, a stun grenade, emotes, and more.

Helldivers 2 has received its first balance patch after it was launched in February. This patch not only adds new features such as planet weather hazards like fire tornados and meteor showers, but certain weapons and Strategems have also been adjusted, with weapons like the Railgun getting nerfed and the Flamethrowing getting buffed, just to name a few.

Helldivers 2 looks to be in a better place now with improved server capacity and matchmaking fixes as Arrowhead Games Studios can now exert efforts to update the game as they teased that mechs are officially coming to the 4-player co-op game very soon.
