Helldivers 2's New Premium Warbond goes live on March 14, Features New Weapons and Cosmetics

Arrowhead Games Studios seems to be in full swing in supporting their 4-player co-op shooter Helldivers 2 as they just revealed the game’s next premium Warbond, which features a series of new weapons to hopefully beef up player’s arsenals, especially after the recent balance changes to certain weapons.

The new Premium Warbond is called Cutting Edge and it seems that the theme for the weapons coming to the game are energy based.

The Warbond will feature at least three new armor sets the EX-03 Prototype 3, EX-16 Prototype 16, and EX-00 Prototype X , likely covering each of the game’s armor types.

Based on a PlayStation Blog post, social media and community manager Katherine Baskin details each new weapon as follows.

Expanded arsenal

R&D didn’t stop at armor, though. They’re also rolling out a new series of alien-splitting weapons with electrifying perks!

LAS-16 Sickle

A sweet laser rifle that fires in short bursts. And it doesn’t need reloading. Just watch for overheating or shove a new heatsink in there.

SG-8P Punisher Plasma

Exploding plasma rounds sound deadly… because they are, to aliens and allies! This modified Punisher shotgun is as fun as it is fearsome.

ARC-12 Blitzer

Project an arc of close-range lightning, or charge it up to fire off powerful bolts. Good for taking out multiple targets and giving you more time to pick a celebration emote.

The Warbond will also feature a new secondary energy-based weapon the LAS-7 Dagger pistol, a stun grenade, a series of new player cards and capes, and three new emotes.

Based on the current premium Warbond, the Cutting Edge Warbond will likely cost 1,000 Super Credits when it gets released, which isn’t a big problem as premium currency can be earned by simply playing the game as there’s a high chance to pick up Super Credits in each mission, especially the big maps.

Support for the game seems to be in full swing now after a month of the studio focusing on stabilizing servers and matchmaking issues thanks to the ongoing popularity of the game.

News from the front

The Galactic War was just updated alongside the announcement of the Cutting Edge Warbond as it looks like the next major focus for the community is liberating Tien Kwan, a planet that, based on lore, is where Helldivers produce their soon to be released mechs.

The interesting question is if the community somehow fails to liberate the planet that produces the new Strategem, does its release get delayed? It’s unlikely that will happen as the community has been completing recent Major Orders released, but one would wonder if that was the plan.

If so, the community-driven narrative of Helldivers 2 is an interesting concept worth keeping an eye on.
