PC Players Have Found A Way To Reset The Resident Evil Village Demo Timer

Resident Evil Village currently has a playable demo available for current and previous gen consoles and PC, but the kicker is that the demo has a timer, giving a player only 60-minutes to try out the content available. But leave it to the PC community to find a way to reset the timer in order to play the demo as much as you want.

In Resident Evil Village’s gameplay demo, you are given two sections to explore - the village portion, and the castle area which involves you running away from one of Lady Dimitrescu’s daughters. Capcom gives you only 60-minutes to explore all of that and that’s not a lot of time.

But thankfully, a Steam user by the name Leaves found a workaround that allows you to trick the demo into thinking you haven’t played it, resulting in it’s timer to reset, giving your 60-minute timer back.

Here are the steps courtesy of Leaves.

“1. Disable Steam Cloud for RE8 Demo
2. Download Steam SAM (Steam Achievement Manager)
3. Delete Local Savefiles
(Located: D:\Steam\userdata\<YOUR STEAM ID>\1541780\remote\win64_save\
Delete those Files.
4. Start Steam SAM
5. Select RE8 Demo
6. Remove Achievements and Stats, confirm.

If you run the Demo now, Timer is Reset to 1Hour.
You can do that in a couple of Seconds, i even wrote a small tool to do that for me...

Info: If you do not want to set the Settings again all the Time, Reset everything, start the Demo to Main Menu, change all Settings you need and Close the game.
No go to your Local Save and copy data00-1.bin (this is where those settings are stored)
Once you have to reset again, proceed as Step 3 and just add the data00-1.bin you saved to the folder.

Resets the Timer but keeps all settings you made.”

There’s no workaround for console platforms, sadly, so you’ll have to make the best out of your 60-minutes, and it least you’re not pressured in missing out on trying the demo as it’s been extended for a whole week. Originally, the demo was available for just 24 hours but Capcom had a change of heart.

If you loved the Resident Evil Village gameplay demo, the wait for the full game won’t be that long as it’s set to come out on May 7, 2021 on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC.
