In celebration of 40 years of Bethesda, the studio revealed a new trailer for The Elder Scrolls VI, officially revealing its title: The Elder Scrolls VI: Sentinel. It’s a short trailer, but it does give a clear clue about where the game will be set.
There have been a lot of reports and rumors that Hammerfell, the home of the Redguards, will be the setting for the next game, and the quote shown at the end adds more weight to those claims.
“The scroll offered only a shimmer, a veil thinly lifted to my eyes. A future lost. A victory undone. Sands of time scattered by fate.” — “Yazar, Moth Priest to High Queen Iradne of Hammerfell (4E 206).”
How much of Hammerfell will be explored and what the scope of the game will be are still uncertain.
The Elder Scrolls VI was officially revealed during the Bethesda E3 2018 Showcase. That means roughly eight years of silence since the studio announced it was working on the next title in the series. Some fans are probably excited, but I wouldn’t be surprised if many are also a bit worried that it might take years before Bethesda provides another update. Beyond the official title, the quote, and the setting, that’s all fans have to cling to until the next time Bethesda shows something.
