Arc Raiders’ Shrouded Sky Update Adds Firefly and Comet ARCs

Firefly and Comet ARCs in Arc Raiders Shrouded Sky update.

Embark Studios has revealed a good amount of what to expect from extraction shooter Arc Raiders’ Shrouded Sky update launching this week. It’s a major content update as we are getting two new ARC enemy types that will roam around maps.

The new Hurricane map condition, which adds strong winds and debris that ruins Raider shields, is all good and all, but the addition of not one but two new enemy types is a big one for me.

Keep the ARCs Coming

The Firefly is a new flying ARC that, based on our first official look at it, seems as armored as the Hornet, roaming the areas, equipped with a flamethrower of sorts to any Raider that catches its attention. This isn’t a big addition like the Matriarch or the more closed-quarters ARC the Shredder only seen in Stella Montis, but it will possibly affect how threatening certain areas will be, especially if this new ARC type is paired with a Hornet or a Wasp.

Attacks from Hornets are subtle, Wasps are more obvious when they are engaging as their weapons prime before firing. The Firefly’s flame is likely clear as day that someone is being pressured, which could be a clear tell even in more harsh map conditions.

Despite it’s armor, I do see a yellow part that looks to be a weak spot similar to how Bastions have one on their back.

The Comet, on the other hand, seems a bit more vague and harder to fully picture as the developer describes that if this ARC sees a player. “it will lock on with a frightening focus before exploding with a seismic boom.”. Is this really an outdoor Pop ARC with a bigger and more distinct explosion?

I love the new ARCs slowly populating Arc Raiders. I’ve been playing this game since release and love how ARCs still remain to be a threat that certain spawns can dictate a player’s path to their objective. Encounters become organic and random, and it’s the reason why this extraction shooter remains stable in player count and is still being played this much after how many months.

First Map Update

The Shrouded Sky update also comes with a new map update for the game. Dam Battlegrounds will be updated with an area called the Controlled Access Zone, a new High value loot location and is another reason why I’m excited for this update. Since release, all of the available maps have been the same, and to see additions to the game’s first map is something I hope will be a staple as Embark continues to grow the game to keep it fresh.

Once the update goes live, it will also start the game’s second Expedition, a feature that allows players that have completed the project to reset their account, effectively starting from level 1 with their items and equipment wiped. Doing this results in permanent bonuses such as more skill points, an increase in inventory stash space, more resources from your trusty chicken Scrappy, and unique cosmetic rewards.

The update also comes with a new free raider deck called The Surgeon, facial hair cosmetics, and a new cosmetic set.

The Shrouded Sky update is the second major update for the game in 2026. Based on the latest roadmap, the next major update is next March called Flashpoint, which again adds a new Arc threat, a new map condition, and an update to the Scrappy system.
