Arc Raiders Won’t Have Mandatory Server Wipes, but Adds a Prestige Reset System
/Last Updated: 11/19/2025
Arc Raiders is an extraction shooter where your death in a raid means losing your gear. It’s a punishing feature that fans of the subgenre love. Another feature once common to similar games was the mandatory server wipe, but Embark Studios has confirmed that Arc Raiders will not have those, but something similar that players can choose to trigger on their own terms.
Developer Embark Studios released a new post giving more context on what they came up with that feels like a solid compromise to satisfy those who like to wipe their progress for a challenge, and those who do not, and it’s really a prestige-like system that a player can control.
Simply put, instead of forcing the entire player base to start from scratch, players who reach a certain level will gain the option to reset their progress and lose all their hard-earned gear and progress.
Expedition Projects Is Their Answer
Arc Raiders features the Expedition Project at level 20. This feature runs on an eight-week cycle. If a player decides to reset their progress, they’ll need to complete the Expedition Project within that cycle. Failing to do so just means waiting for the next one. No permanent penalty if you missed your window, just another chance to play with what you have and time to prepare in opting in later in the season..
Embark also confirmed that there will be multiple projects added over time, but the character reset Expedition will be available right from launch, and states that this system is subject to change between now, launch, and post-launch.
To prepare the Expedition, you’ll need to donate specific materials to get yourself ready for the reset. This can go from raw crafting materials to rare ones and obscure ones like Light Bulbs.
Expedition Requirements
The first Expedition has 6 batches of materials needed to fully complete the Caravan Expedition.
Here’s what’s needed.
Foundation (1/6)
200x Rubber Parts
80x Arc Alloys
15x Steel Springs
Core Systems (2/6)
35x Durable Cloth
30x Wires
30x Electrical Components
5x Cooling Fans
Framework (3/6)
5x Light Bulb
30x Battery
20x Sensors
1x Exodus Modules
Outfitting (4/6)
5x Humidifier
5x Advanced Electronic Components
3x Magnetic Accelerator
3x Leaper Pulse Unit
Load Stage (5/6)
This stage is not hard but expensive, as there are no specific items needed, as any item can be donated to cover the four types of items.
Combat Items (weapons, mods, utilities, etc) - 250k worth of items
Survival Items (shields, augments, consumables, etc) - 100k worth of items
Provisions (maps, tokens, plant items, keys, etc) - 180k worth of items
Materials (Crafting materials) - 300k worth of items
Departure (6/6)
When you hit this stage, your Expedition is ready to go and will have to wait for the first departure window, which is happening sometime in December.
What You Lose When You Trigger an Expedition Reset
Triggering this Expedition works similarly to a prestige system. When you activate it, you reset:
Stash upgrade progress
Inventory items
Blueprints
Coins
Player Level
Skill points
Raider den upgrades
Workshop upgrades
Quests
What You Keep
Unlocked maps
Unlocked Workshop Stations
Codex entries
Raider Tokens
Cred currency (for Raider decks)
Raider Deck progress
Active leaderboards
Trials
All unlocked cosmetics
Personal event progress (if there’s one ongoing)
What You Earn
Account wipes are made popular for the sake of giving players a challenge, but most of the time, people appreciate it due to everyone being forced to be on an even playing field at the very beginning, and the online community resetting. At least, from what I understand from Escape from Tarkov players, that’s one of the many appeals for doing this.
But I also understand the argument of why many hate it, as not everyone can play daily, and it’s discouraging to play the game when you have no idea when a wipe is about to happen, or you have a couple of weeks before another wipe.
Embark confirmed that triggering your Expedition will give bonus skill points and bonus stash space. The stash space alone, I think, is worth the reset.
It’s a balanced approach. Nothing revolutionary, but it offers freedom without punishing players who prefer a slower pace. This also keeps the veterans who thrive on challenge and get their clean-slate runs for bragging rights.
Arc Raiders’ First Major Update is live
Arc Raiders was just updated with a major update adding a new map Stella Montis and two new Arcs and a few map variants to spice the game even more weeks after release.
