NieR with Migoy

nier

I borrowed Arlie's copy of NieR a few months ago and only really got to play it just recently. I've heard a lot of good things about this game but never really got down to buying it because of the mixed reviews it got early on and I wasn't really in the mood to play any RPGs at the time but when I tried this game out, I was surprised at how good the initial impression I got just from how it controls and how the combat feels.

I won't bore you guys with words, you can instead check out my playthrough of NieR on our new Let's Play channel over on youtube. I call it "NieR with Migoy". I'd come with a better title but that doesn't matter, the game is awesome. You can check out the NieR playlist here or you can watch all the parts that are currently live as the writing of this post down below. Grand Theft Auto V has gone gold! and apparently a leak happened recently

Grand Theft Auto V Rockstar has confirmed that Grand Theft Auto V has gone gold! Which means the game is 100% complete and mass production of the game is what's left to prepare for the release on September 17. Rockstar released a statement, and in that statement they also addressed a suppose leak that happened recently thanks to Sony.

This flew under our radar. Apparently people who downloaded the digital-download of GTA V in PSN Europe had access to certain assets of the game by mistake. Sony released a statement apologizing for the leak, but Rockstar still expressed disappointment over how they handled their content:

We’re pleased to confirm that Grand Theft Auto V has officially gone gold and we’re now preparing the game for release on September 17th for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. Unfortunately, as many of you may already know, some people who downloaded the digital pre-order of Grand Theft Auto V through the PlayStation Store in Europe were able to access certain GTAV assets leading to leaked information and media from the game appearing online. You can read Sony’s statement on this here:http://blog.us.playstation.com/2013/08/24/grand-theft-auto-v-update/. As you can imagine, we are deeply disappointed by leaks and spoilers being spread in advance of the game's launch. GTAV represents years of hard work by many people across the world, and we all couldn't be more excited to finally share it with you properly this September 17th. Please stay tuned here at the Rockstar Newswire for all announcements about GTAV between now and game release as we definitely still have more to officially reveal.

As a specific note to our Social Club community, please remember Rule #1 right above the Comment Box. Please do not proliferate such things here as we certainly don’t want any misinformation spread from things that are fake nor do we want spoilers spread regarding anything that might be true. Anyone engaging in such discussion here at the Rockstar Newswire before September 17th will have commenting privileges revoked until well after the game’s release. Thank you all for your understanding and your support.

What is the leak? Not entirely sure and I don't want to know. I honestly don't think it would matter what it is since the game is less than a month away. But I'm sure you want to keep yourself spoiler-free up until release. So let's focus on the good news coming from this - Rockstar is done developing GTA V. Nothing can stop it now from releasing on September 17.

Just in case you missed it, our first ever giveaway is currently on-going. One lucky reader will get a chance to get a PS3 copy of GTA V on release day on us! Get all the details here. Take note: Giveaway is only available to readers in the Philippines.

Pixelated Final Fantasy 7 Figures

3d printed cloud

Final Fantasy VII on the original PlayStation was the first role playing game I have ever played. Going on a whim and asking my brother to buy all 3 discs for me because my friends said it was a good game introduced me to the wonderful genre that is JRPGs. With it being the first 3D Final Fantasy game and it originally developed for the Nintendo 64, the out of battle graphics weren't that great.

The pixellated chibi meat arm characters that we all know and love never got the figure treatment in their overworld forms. I understand that their meat arms were due to graphical limitations at the time and did not represent their true appearance but nostalgia is a big thing to us folks who grew up in the 90s.

3d printed ff7 Artist Joaquin Balding took it to himself to print out little FF7 figurines using a 3D printer and sold there tiny beauties online for around $15 a pop. This excited many a gamer as it perfectly captured their pixely goodness. Square Enix, however, sent Shapeways (the 3D-printing shop that Balding was using to create and sell the figures) received a takedown notice last week and the figures were immediately pull off the market. This is saddening news but Square Enix is known for defending its intellectual properties and they are well in their right. Let's just hope that Square Enix takes a hint that there's a market for those kinds of figures and maybe they'll release their own set.

Drakensang Online - Free to Play Browser MMORPG

migoy plays drakensangWhen I was in-line at Otaku Expo for the entrance ticket, a guy was giving out flyers for this supposed new game (I guess it's new here) called Drakensang, which I first read as "Dragon's Crown". They had a few PCs setup for people to try the game out and for the most part I saw that the PCs were always occupied. drakensang flyer Drakensang Online is a free to play browser based MMORPG on friendster that plays like a lot of MMORPGs back in the early 2000's. It's an isometric view RPG with a medival fantasy setting where you run around and kill monsters. I can't really complain about the game since it's free to play and it runs on java so no need to install the game though if your internet is a subpar, it might take a while before things load. Played a good solid hour of it which you can check out in the video below.

Will I be playing more of this though? Probably not.

Marvel vs Capcom 3 - A Taste of Vanilla

mvc3 So as you know, I just bought a copy of Marvel vs. Capcom 3 because someone was selling their steelbook edition. This clearly was an impulse buy because I had no idea that a steelbook for MvC3 even existed.

When I bought my Ziggy (my PS3), the first game I got was Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3 and even though I haven't played the game in over a year, it's still one of my favorite games of this generation. Vanilla marvel is so different compared to ultimate. Anyone who's played it before ultimate came out would know what I'm talking about. Characters feel different from each other, certain combos don't work, certain combos that don't work in ultimate DO work in vanilla, we still tend to mash buttons when doing supers even though you don't need to and the lack of air X-Factor can be such a big factor in a clutch situation.

Anyway, scrubbyness and differences aside, I ended up liking vanilla mvc3 way more than I thought I would after recording this.
