Stellar Blade Blocked in 129 Countries Including the Philippines

Like other recent PlayStation-published titles, Stellar Blade is blocked in 129 countries on Steam. Following the Helldivers 2 PSN account controversy, every new PlayStation release on Steam has been region-blocked in several countries, and Stellar Blade is no exception.

What’s surprising is that the PSN account requirement on PC is now optional, yet the block remains. Sony has not officially commented on this restriction. However, developer Shift Up stated that they’re working toward resolving this, suggesting they weren’t aware this was in place ahead of Stellar Blade’s Steam release next month.

It’s a strange situation. Helldivers 2 launched on both PS5 and PC and was an instant hit, but players quickly ran into an unnecessary roadblock weeks after launch in the form of a mandatory PSN account. That issue was eventually resolved, leaving most of the community somewhat satisfied. But one major problem still lingers: PlayStation continues to block countries like the Philippines from purchasing their games on Steam.

It’s also worth noting that Helldivers 2 didn’t launch with this many countries blocked, and earlier PlayStation titles on PC—such as Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart and Returnal—never received these restrictions. Games like Ghost of Tsushima, The Last of Us Part I & II, and even God of War Ragnarök appear to remain blocked for the same regions listed above.

Since it started, Sony has never addressed this situation publicly.
