Left 4 Dead 3 gets a countdown?

Left4Dead3_countdown LEFT 4 DEAD 3!!!!!!! Ok, don't go overboard with what you see above just yet. Yes, a countdown has appeared online with a logo for the 3rd game. But is it legit?

Sadly, no official word just yet. The countdown does include logos for Valve Steam and the Source Engine, but that's about it. The countdown is planned to end at August 21(US).

I did get excite when I first read the news and saw the countdown with my own two eyes, but it then struck me - Valve announces Left 4 Dead 3 through a countdown!? The Left4Dead franchise is considered a huge success for Valve. Heck, the original game and the second game is still being played as if it just got released. Now with that in mind, I'd expect them to make a big reveal in an event of some sort like E3 to maximize awareness to your market. So, it's really hard for me to go all out excited.

Valve has not officially confirmed that this is legit, but only time will tell. I'm sure the company is well aware of this countdown as I write this, so I already see myself updating this post either later or in a couple of days.

Pikmin 3 Gameplay Basics trailer

pikmin-3-ss01 Got a Wii U, but need a new game? Don't worry, Pikmin 3 is just around the corner. But just in case you don't remember how this game works, or rather you have no idea what you're getting into, Nintendo released a new trailer briefly explaining the basic gameplay.

I'm happy to see Pikmin 3 finally hitting the shelves. Not because I'm a huge fan, but because I'd like to think this is Nintendo finally bringing out the good stuff for the Wii U. Their new console will have the hardest year with the console wars now in full swing, so yes, I'm rooting for the underdog and it starts with the success of their exclusive titles. Pikmin 3 needs to start the Wii U's momentum right entering the second half of the year and I'm pretty sure Nintendo realizes this as well.

Pikmin 3 will be an exclusive title for the Wii U, and will be available on July 26 in Europe, and August 4 in the US.

Borderlands 2 getting more DLC, Ultimate Vault Hunter Upgrade Pack 2 on the way

BL2_DLC3-ss01 Thought Gearbox Software is done with the whole adding DLC support to Borderlands 2? Think again. Randy Pitchford today at PAX Australia just announced a good amount of DLC news planned for release in the coming months. One in particular, the Ultimate Vault Hunter Upgrade Pack 2, will increase the level cap by 11, making the max level to 72.

The Ultimate Vault Hunter Upgrade Pack 2 will cost $5 on release, and no this is not included in the season pass. The pack will not only add more levels for you to grind, you will also get the "Digistruct Peak Challenge", which puts the vault hunters, with the help of Professor Tannis, to train future Crimson Raiders after the events of the main story. Also, you'll get the ability to tweak your game difficulty if you want a challenge.

During the announcement, Randy Pitchford also mentioned more DLC is planned. There will be these packs called "Headhunter Packs", and the first one mentioned was "T.K. Baha's Bloody Harvest". There's not much detailed infomation about these packs, but they are planning to release three of these Headhunter Packs. No word on how much these will cost when they get released.

They also talked about freebie content updates. Like, extra bank slots, extra inventory slots and ammo capacity. All are expected to arrive before Halloween.

This bit of news had the perfect timing. I just got Borderlands 2 together with it's season pass and I just can't let go of the controller. It's quite a surprise to see the developers still hard at work in producing more content for a game that will soon hit it's one year mark. You rarely see that kind of support, but Borderlands is Gearbox Software's baby after all, their pride and joy. Well, I'm excited. Time to get back on my Gunzerker and just go crazy in Pandora.

Lighting Returns: Final Fantasy XIII Comic-con 2013 trailer

lightning_returns_comiccon A new trailer for Lightning Returns Final Fantasy XIII was released in this year's San Diego Comic Con. It is said that the trailer focuses on the characters and the battle system, but it didn't look that way to me.  Have a look, and you'll probably see what I mean.

All I see is a big emphasis on Lightning's many costumes. Granted, changing Lightning's looks on the fly is part of the battle system, but I can't help but remember that god awful Final Fantasy sequel that shouldn't have happened.

Still interested in the Final Fantasy XIII series? I've given it two tries and I'm not sold yet if I want to see the "end" of it all.

Lightning Returns Final Fantasy XIII is set for a February 2014 release for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.
