New Silent Hill Movie and Live Interactive Series Silent Hill: Ascension Announced

During the Silent Hill Transmission broadcast event Konami announced a new Silent Hill movie called Return to Silent Hill as well as a live interactive series called Silent Hill: Ascension.

Return to Silent Hill film

This new film will be helmed by director Christophe Gans, the director of the original 2006 movie Silent Hill. This is the rebooting of the Silent Hill movie franchise and is working on a similar plot to Silent Hill 2, where a man returns to the foggy town in search for his lost love. Of course, he finds a series of horror and iconic monsters such as the infamous Pyramid Head.

According to Rui Naito, Konami’s head of IP and cross-media development for the Silent Hill franchise, the pitch from Victor Hadida, one of the producers of the original Silent Hill film, inspired Konami to go with the Silent Hill 2 remake to pair with the concept of the new film.

The film project is still in its early stages as casting and filming are still in the works.

Live interactive series Silent Hill: Ascension

Konami also announced a live interactive series called Silent Hill: Ascension where streamers, content creators, and its viewers get to shape this live interactive series with their actions. Results of the show will be considered canon in the series as it is said that there will be no resets. Ascension is being worked on by Genvid, Bad Robot, Behaviour (Dead by Daylight studio), and DJ2. They didn’t go into the specifics on how decisions will be made by the viewers or where the live interactive series will take place.

The series is said to go live sometime in 2023.

You can visit the website for Silent Hill: Ascension but there’s no added information just yet.

Konami is expanding the Silent Hill franchise but don’t think they forgot about the game as they also announced a Silent Hill 2 remake, Silent Hill f, and Silent Hill: Townfall.
