Thor: The Dark World for iOS and Android Actually Looks Decent

Thor2_Screen1

I like free games as much as the next guy but even though I've played a few really good mobiles games, I'm still not the kind of guy who would recommend mobile games to anyone.

The only mobile that I'm still playing to date is the Injustice: Gods Among Us iOS game. I mainly play it when I'm bored and supposed to be going to bed which I then end up not sleeping through out the whole night. That and I have yet to unlock the Lockdown Superman costume on the console version.

Thor2_Screen2 What seems to be the trend for movie games nowadays is that instead of getting a home console release, they're jumping to the mobile tablet/smartphone platform instead. This has happened with Iron Man 3, Man of Steel and Despicable Me 2. The same is happening with Marvel's second Thor movie, Thor: The Dark World, and it's Gameloft who is handling the development. Here is the official press release from Gameloft for Thor: The Dark World - The Official Game.

Having previously teamed up to develop several successful games including The Amazing Spider-Man and Iron Man 3 – The Official Game, Gameloft, a leading global publisher of digital and social games, and Marvel are joining forces once again to bring the official game inspired from the highly anticipated new movie Thor: The Dark World to iPhone, iPad, iPod touch and Android.

"In this free-to-play game, Thor must restore order to the Nine Worlds. Perform all of the God of Thunder’s iconic combat moves as you lead Asgardian forces, including the Warriors Three, in over 100 exciting and varied missions against Marauders and Dark Elves.  Gameloft’s stunning HD game engine brings to life the beauty of the Thor universe and worlds like Jotunheim and Asgard.  Thor: The Dark World will also include a compelling social multiplayer element where fans join forces to earn victory. An original story inspired by the film and cowritten by famed Marvel writer Christopher Yost provides a gripping narrative for the game.

"We are delighted to continue our excellent collaboration with Marvel,” said Karine Kaiser, VP Marketing & Licensing at Gameloft. "Developing official games from Marvel’s cinematic blockbusters and bringing the fans an immersive experience in a Super Hero world inspires us every time.”

"Thor: The Dark World – The Official Game will allow fans of the franchise to play as one of Marvel’s most iconic Super Heroes in a game of epic scope and beauty.” said Javon Frazier, VP Games Marketing at Marvel. "With this new game, we are further expanding the successful relationship between Marvel and Gameloft."

Thor: The Dark World –The Official Game will be released in conjunction with the theatrical film from Marvel in November.

Thor2_Screen3 While I did not like the Iron Man 3 iOS game and am too cheap and skeptical to buy the Amazing Spider-Man mobile game, the gameplay of Thor 2 looks to be a isometric beat-em-up where you flail your hammer around and break things. By that I mean it looks like an actual video game. The problem I have with most iOS games is that they're usually just gimmicky touchscreen games with like a big round button that lets you do everything or you simply just tap and/or swipe to do stuff. They do work in some games but usually that doesn't sit well with me. Thor 2 looks to be a old school style brawler with some special screen clearing moves. Be it good or bad, the game is free-to-play when it comes out so no harm in trying. Check out and trailer and tell us what you think.

Marvel vs Capcom Origins

mvc origins Looks like Capcom finally had a good idea. Since I got my copy of Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3, the nostalgia bug bit me and made me want to revist some of the older Capcom VS. games that I played on the original PlayStation.

I did get a 2nd-hand PS1 earlier this year and me and my cousins did get to play Marvel Super Heroes vs. Street Fighter, Marvel vs. Capcom and Marvel vs. capcom 2 HD. We saw first-hand how the VS. series evolved into what it is today. However the PS1 versions of MSHvSF and MvC1 are not the best ports since the PS1's hardware couldn't handle the full 2v2 experience. Those versions didn not have a true tag system and your 2nd character would only be an assist.

Since I got MvC2 HD on the PS3, I've been longing for a PSN release for all the 2D VS. games starting with X-Men vs Street Fighter. Of course it would be the true arcade ports which enabled you to tag out with your 2nd character while the other heals their red health. Capcom did answer my prayers in a way because they will be releasing Marvel Super Heroes and Marvel vs Capcom in HD on both PSN and XBLA. Dubbed "Marvel vs Capcom Origins" the game will feature an HD makeover and, from the looks of it, similar features done in Street Fighter III: 3rd Strike Online Edition such as online play, sprites and screen settings, even those challenge counter things you see on the side at 0:56. It's set to come out in September this year (2012) and since SF3 and MvC2 went for $15, I'd say that MvC Origins will also run for the same price.. Unless Capcom will be Capcom (ie EVIL).

Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3 - Rocket Raccoon and Frank West Character Reveal Trailer

Character reveal Capcom just revealed the last two characters joinging Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom3, for Marvel we have...... Rocket Raccoon. I have no clue that Marvel had a character like this and people thought he'd be a joke. Well from what I see in the trailer reveal, he's going to be pretty nasty. Can't wait to see the pro's get their hands on this small critter. For Capcom's side we have Frank West, the protagonist of the first Dead Rising game. He honestly looks similar to when he was in Tatsunoko vs Capcom.

Rocket Raccoon Character Reveal Trailer

It seems he has a lot of tricks up his sleeves. Rocket Raccoon going underground might come as a problem, at the same time the guy is just as small as Amaterasu(The dog in Marvel vs Capcom 3) so his hit box will be definitely be an issue for some character moves.

Frank West Character Reveal Trailer

What's up with the level up system of Frank West? I have no idea what it's for. He also drinks alcohol that looks like a buff, but makes you vomit after a few seconds. He looks like a trippy character though. His camera shot looks like it interrupts attacks.

Frank West vs Rocket Raccoon

The list of characters joining Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3 is complete. What's left is waiting for its release a few weeks from now. Selling your vanilla copy to get your copy? I already sold mine, not  much of a sell though.

Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3 is out on November 15 for Playstation 3 and Xbox 360.

Phoenix Wright and Nova revealed for UMVC 3

Phoenix Wright revealed Capcom reveals two new characters for Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3. For Capcom's side we have Phoenix Wright. Yes, we have an attorney joining a fighing game. For the Marvel side, we have Nova from the Nova Force. While I'm not too familiar with Marvel's Nova character, I'm sure everybody is more familiar with Capcom's new addition and damn curious how Phoenix Wright will play in a fighting game. Check the trailers for both characters below.

Nova gameplay trailer

While Nova looks like he fits well in Marvel vs Capcom 3, Phoenix Wright on the other hand, well lets just say hats off to Capcom in making a non-fighting character a fighting character. Phoenix Wright looking for clues, throwing papers at character's faces and shouting out OBJECTION! An interesting new addition indeed. We'll see if he turns out viable when the game ships on November 15 for Playstation 3 and Xbox 360.

Two Best Friends Play: Captain America Super Soldier

I love how Matt immitates the narrators in old 40's videos. Wow, it's just like Sucker Punch! AMERICAAAA!

The best friends continue their epic journey to troll each other via electronic video games until one of them dies, or takes down the Third Reich using only a vibranium shield and good ol' fashion American know-how.

I have the Wii version of Captain America done by High Volage software. I might be playing that on the feed sometime to see how it compares.
