Free games for PS Plus and Xbox Live members in December

sLy7chk

Now that we survived the waves of games that came out in November, we enter December, another month that will most likely burn another hole in our wallets. But just in case you need to save up at the same time need to have another game to stack up your ever-growing backlog of games, Xbox Live and PS+ just announced the free games coming to subscribers of both services next month.

Quite a handful of free games for those subscribed. We are still recovering from all the games  released a few weeks ago, not to mention the release of the PS4 and Xbox One hitting stores.  Now, we all know how great the free games are in the PS+ service, and getting Borderlands 2 for free along two free Vita games and Grid 2 makes the December Games with Gold worth laughing about. But you have to remember these services have a gap of more than a year. PS+ was not appealing in the first few months as well since they were also releasing weak titles to push anybody to subscribe. With Xbox Live members case, we get the service to play online, and Games with Gold comes as a bonus, free games are still free.

Microsoft did announce they will continue this service in 2014 so it will definitely get better as we move forward. But if they continue to give us tower defense games in the coming months, it's going to be a different story.  My only gripe with the service is their region lock policy. Why provide the same titles to each country when its region-locked to the US only? So yes, pray that Gears of War will be downloadable if you are in the other side of the globe.

PayPal can now be used to fund PSN wallets online for your US accounts

paypal

For players that use a US account for their PS3, the option to add money into your PSN account through PayPal is now available.

After the long PSN maintenance that took around 2 days, the service went back online and PSN Trophies tweeted that PayPal is now an option to add funds to your virtual wallet through Sony Entertainment Online's website.

There is no option yet to top up via your PS3 console. To add funds with PayPal, just head over SOE's website, login using your PSN details, and you will see the PayPal option when you go to your wallet tab. You can choose from either $5, $10, $20, and $50.

This has been a long-awaited option for most players. The only way to add funds for years was via credit card or PSN prepaid cards.

PSN - Borderlands PS Plus September game, new discounts coming

PSN Plus Next update for PS Plus has been revealed. If you haven't played Borderlands and subscribed to PS Plus, you're in luck. Borderlands joins the "Instant Game Collection" this September, as long as you're a PS Plus member, you can download and start playing Borderlands for free. Good timing too with Borderlands 2 coming out in a few weeks.

If you want to get the whole Borderlands package, all DLC content for the game will be 50% off. If you feel like getting only a DLC or two instead of the whole bundle, I suggest getting Claptrap's Robot Revolution and The Secret Armory of General Knoxx, best DLC's among the four available.

Together with Borderlands, the update include some discounts:

Lights, Camera, Party! - Regular price: $29.99, PS Plus price: $15.00

Space Channel 5: Part 2 - PSN sale price: $4.99, PS Plus price: $2.99

Spelunker HD (With DLC) - Regular price: $9.99, PS Plus price: $5.00

Daytona USA - Regular price: $4.99, PS Plus price: $2.99

Greed Corp - PSN sale price: $4.99, PS Plus price: $2.50

Space Channel 5: Part 2 and Spelunker HD goes live first on August 28. Borderlands, Greed Corp, and Daytona USA will then go live on September 4.
