Xbox One Owners Who Buys Cyberpunk 2077 Gets Xbox Series X Version For Free
Cyperbunk 2077 will be available this September and those picking up a copy of the game on Xbox One will be eligible to get a free copy of the game on the Xbox Series X when it is available, CD Projekt RED announced.
The Polish studio announced the free upgrade via Twitter.
Gamers should never be forced to purchase the same game twice or pay for upgrades. Owners of #Cyberpunk2077 for Xbox One will receive the Xbox Series X upgrade for free when available. https://t.co/nfkfFLj85w

The announcement also mentions Microsoft’s newly announced Smart Delivery technology, which is pretty much backwards compatibility for the Xbox Series X, the new Xbox console slated for a Holiday 2020 release.
As described by Microsoft in their Xbox Wire post, the Smart Delivery is a technology that “empowers you to buy a game once and know that – whether you are playing it on Xbox One or Xbox Series X – you are getting the right version of that game on whatever Xbox you’re playing on. “
It is currently unclear if the Xbox Series X version of Cyberpunk 2077 will simply receive an enhanced visuals patch of the Xbox One version, or it will be a different build for the new console.
Cyberpunk 2077 will be out on September 17, for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.
