Nioh 3’s first Major DLC Hell Rising Set to Launch on August 19
Developer Team Ninja and publisher Koei Tecmo announced that the first major DLC for their action RPG Nioh 3 will release on August 19.
The Hell Rising DLC continues following the game’s protagonist Takechiyo, but this time we see him traveling through time after encountering a mysterious yokai. This results in him exploring a new explorable region set in Edo during the Keian era in 1651. This DLC also adds two new weapon types: Hoko & Shield and Ninja Hoko & Shield, a new difficulty, and new enemies, plus new equipment and Soul Cores to collect.
The DLC also includes the Hundred Demon Realms Picture Scrolls system for both solo and multiplayer, as this allows players to customize battle conditions, enemy combinations and more to create unique and repeatable challenges for players. Doing so will earn unique scroll equipment with unique effects as a reward.
This DLC is part of the game's season pass, so if you own it, you'll have access to Hell Rising when it launches in August. This is the first of two planned paid DLCs with the second DLC called 'Bloody Insurrection' planned for a 2027 release.
