Nintendo is having a big Nintendo Direct for September 2025 as it’s a showcase that’s roughly 60-minutes long and focuses on Switch 1 and Switch 2 titles. Anything is possible from new world premieres to new trailers or information of upcoming games fans have been waiting for years.
Here’s a quick and simple recap from the showcase highlighting all the trailers as they are revealed.

Nintendo Direct September 2025 Big Announcements
Super Mario Galaxy Movie Announced
They start the Direct by showing how Nintendo will celebrate the Super Mario Bros. 40th anniversary. The second movie will be called Super Mario Galaxy, inspired by the game with the same name. The original cast returns for the second film and is aiming to release March 2026.
Super Mario Galaxy + Super Mario Galaxy 2 coming to Switch
Super Mario Galaxy and Super Mario Galaxy 2 will be coming to the Switch on October 2, 2025. The second movie and the first two Galaxy games will be the focus of the Super Mario 40th Anniversary celebration. Thanks to backwards compatibility, this bundle will also be playable on the Switch 2.
Mario Tennis Fever Announced for Switch 2
A completely new Mario Tennis game called Mario Tennis Fever. Features unique rackets called fever rackets, various game modes, and more. It’s set to launch in February 2026.
Super Mario Wonder Switch 2 Edition Announced
Super Mario Wonder + Meetup in Bellabel Park is set to release on the Switch 2 in Spring 2026. This version will provide new content which will be talked about in the future.
Yoshi and the Mysterious Book announced for Switch 2
A brand new Yoshi side-scrolling platforming game is coming to the Switch 2 and is set to release Spring 2026.
Tomodachi Life Living the Dream
Tomodachi Life Living the Dream now has a Spring 2026 release window.
Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade Coming to Switch 2
The first game in the remake series is coming to the Nintendo Switch 2 on January 22, 2026.
Hades 2 coming to the Switch 2 this September
Hades 2 will be available on the Nintendo Switch 2 on September 25, 2025, digitally, confirming the game’s full release this month. A physical Switch 2 edition of the game will be available on November 20, 2025
Hyrule Warriors Age of Imprisonment coming to the Switch 2 this November
The second game in the Hyrule Warriors series Hyrule Warriors Age of Imprisonment will launch on the Switch 2 on November 6, 2025. Pre-orders are now live.
Dragon Quest VII Reimagined announced coming to Switch 2
Dragon Quest VII Reimagined launching in the Switch 2 on February 5, 2026.
Virtual Boy Device announced for Switch 1 and Switch 2
Virtual Boy will launch on the Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack’s Classics offer on February 17, 2026. It will slowly add more games after launch, just like other offers. Nintendo will be releasing a device that will recreate the experience of playing Virtual Boy games and will be available in select regions at a later date. Offer will be for both Switch and Switch 2 subscribers.
Fatal Frame 2: Crimson Butterfly Remake Announced
A remake of Fatal Frame: Crimson Butterfly was announced and will be coming to the Switch 2 in Early 2026.
Metroid Prime 4 Beyond Set to Release this December
We finally got a release date for Metroid Prime 4. Metroid Prime 4 Beyond will launch on the Switch an Switch 2 on December 4, 2025.
Donkey Kong Bananza Paid DLC out Today
DK Island + Emerald Rush is a paid DLC that adds new game modes to challenges players after finishing the base game.
Pokemon Pokopia Announced
Pokemon Pokopia is a new game where you play a Ditto transformed into a human that starts building a home for it and the Pokemons they meet. It’s set to release on the Switch 2 in 2026.
Pokemon Legends ZA launches on the Switch this October
Pokemon Legends ZA is launching on the Nintendo Switch and Switch 2 on October 16, 2025. Game Freak also announced that a paid DLC for the upcoming game is coming and is called Mega Dimensions, which features a new mega evolution for Raichu.
Resident Evil Requiem is coming to the Switch 2 in February 2026
The next mainline entry in the long-running Resident Evil series Resident Evil Requiem is coming to the Switch 2 when it launches on February 27, 2026. A Resident Evil 7 and Resident Evil Village bundle for the Switch 2 was also announced and will also release on February 27.
Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave Announced
The Nintendo Direct for September 2025 ends with the reveal of the next entry in the Fire Emblem series. Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave will launch on the Switch 2 sometime in 2026.
A big surprise as Nintendo did not end a rather lengthy Nintendo Direct with a new first-party reveal.
