Nintendo Direct February 2021 - The Biggest Announcements And Reveals

This morning, Nintendo had their February 2021 Nintendo Direct which presented a crazy amount of games coming to the Nintendo Switch, giving us a good idea of what to expect in 2021.

We haven’t had a lengthy Nintendo Direct in a long time. Here’s a quick breakdown as to what was announced during the video presentation.

Pyra and Mithra from Xenoblade 2 in Smash - another sword user, releases in March

Xenoblade Chronicles’ Pyra and Mythra are the next fighters joining the already packed Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. These characters are set to arrive on March 2021.

Fall Guys: Ultimate Knockout heading to the Switch this Summer

No exact date was given but you can compete for the crown against other players on the go this year.

Outerwilds heading to the Switch also this Summer

The 2019 action adventure from Mobius Digital is heading to the Switch in Summer 2021. No exact release date was given.

Two Famicom Detective Club (The Missing Heir / The Girl Who Stands Behind) coming to the Switch this May 14

Famicom Detective Club: The Missing Heir and Famicom Detective Club: The Girl Who Stands Behind is getting localized for the Nintendo Switch. It will be out this May 14 and will be sold separately.

Legend of Mana announced for the Switch and it’s a remake

Classis JRPG Legend of Mana is heading to the Nintendo Switch with a few changes. The game music has been rearranged but you’ll have the option to play the game with the original score, and features such as turning off enemy encounters have been added in this version of the game. It’s set to release this June 24.

New Monster Hunter Rise trailer - features new monsters, basarios, volvidon, and more

Another dose of Monster Hunter Rise footage. Monster Hunter Rise is set to launch on the Switch on March 26, 2021.

Mario Golf Super Rush announced for the Switch, coming this June

A new Mario Golf game is coming to the Nintendo Switch on June 25, 2021. The game will feature an intense Speed Golf multiplayer mode, motion controls support, and a story mode where you start as a rookie and work your way up as you progress in the game mode.

Tales from the Borderlands is coming to the Switch

Replay or play for the first time the adventures of Rhys and Fiona in the Borderlands universe when it launches on the Switch on March 26, 2021.

Capcom Arcade Stadium brings Capcom’s beloved titles to the Switch, out today!

The collection is offered in three packs, each costing $14.99 and features a period of Capcom’s history from the 1984-1988 era with Bionic Commando, Ghouls ‘n Ghosts to the 1992-2001, a time when games like Super Street Fighter II Turbo and Battle Circuit was release.

Stubbs the Zombie in Rebel Without a Pulse heading to the Nintendo Switch

Stubbs the Zombie in a Rebel Without a Pulse is coming and it will be available on the Switch on March 16.

Neon White announced for the Nintendo Switch

EA and PopCap Games is bringing their 2019 third-person online shooter Plants vs Zombies: Battle of Neighborville on the Switch on March 19, 2021.

The 3DS title Miitopia is heading to the Switch this May

The RPG will feature Mii avatars and will travel to different worlds to build, battle, and do all sorts of activities. It’s set for a May 21, 2021 release.

Animal Crossing: New Horizons is getting Mario DLC items this February

Animal Crossing: New Horizons players will be thrilled to know that Super Mario-themed items and costumes are heading to the game on February 25, 2021. We are talking about items like coins, Thwomps, muchrooms, warp pipes, and more. Best part is it will be free.

Project Triangle Strategy (working title) announced for the Switch

Square Enix revealed a new RPG that strongly resembles Octopath Traveler and it’s currently called Project Triangle Strategy, a working title for now. Crazy enough, a demo for the game with a working title is now available for Switch owners.

Star Wars Hunters announced for the Switch and it’s a free-to-play title

Star Wars Hunters is a squad-based online multiplayer free-to-play game by Zynga that’s set between Return of the Jedi and The Force Awakens. It’s set for a 2021 release.

Knockout City Announced for the Nintendo Switch

Knockout City is a dodgeball team-based online game from EA and Velan Studios, the makers of Mario Kart Live: Home Circuit. Knockout City is set for a May 20, 2021 release and a beta weekend is scheduled for this weekend.

World's End Club coming to the Switch

Creators of Danganropa and the Zero Escape series is releasing World’s End Club on the Switch on May 28, 2021.

Hades is getting a physical release on the switch, comes with extra goodies

Supergiant Games’ Hades is getting the physical copy treatment on the Switch and will be out on March 19, 2021. It comes with a PC download code to download the Hades original soundtracks as well as a 32-page, full color character compendium.

Ninja Gaiden Master Collection (sigma 1-3) out this june for the Switch

This is a collection of remasters for Ninja Gaiden Sigma, Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2, and Ninja Gaiden 3: Razor’s Edge and it will be available on June 10, 2021.

Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity getting more love with an expansion pass announced

Age of Calamity’s expansion pass will cost you $19.99 and it’s content will come in two waves. The first wave of content is planned for a June release and comes with an expanded roster of characters, new weapons, new enemies, and other challenges. The second wave is in November and comes with character vignettes, new stages, more characters to play, and new battle skills for existing characters.

Bravely Default II’s final trailer reveal, game is out on February 26

Bravely Default II received it’s final trailer to remind us that the game will be out next week. Demo is still available if you’re curious about the game.

Another reminder that Ghosts ‘n Goblins Resurrection is coming

Ghost ‘n Goblins Resurrection is a new entry to the series in a long time and it will be out next week, February 25, 2021.

SaGa Frontier Remaster revealed for the Switch

Another RPG classic is coming to the Nintendo Switch and is getting the remaster treatment and will be out on April 15, 2021.

Samurai Warriors 5 is coming to the Nintendo Switch

The spin-off series of the Dynasty Warriors series is set in the Sengoku Period of Japan and revolves around historical figures Nobunaga Oda and Mitsuhide Akeshi. It’s set to release on the Switch sometime in Summer of this year.

Apex Legends coming to the Switch this March

Respawn Entertainment is bringing their battle royale shooter to the Switch on March 9, 2021. To Celebrate, players can take advantage of the double XP on the Switch for the first two weeks after the game launches. The Switch version will support cross-platform play.

The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword HD announced for the Nintendo Switch

There was a Zelda announcement in this Nintendo Direct but not the game most were hoping for. Skyward Sword HD is coming to the Nintendo Switch on July 16, 2021 with a new button only controls layout or with motion controls, like how it was played in the Nintendo Wii when the game was released back in 2011.

Nintendo Direct concludes with Splatoon 3 being announced for the Nintendo Switch

Nintendo revealed Splatoon 3 and showcased some features such as a new bow weapon, customization options, and a new city called the Splatlands. The game is a long way from release as it’s set to launch in 2022.
