New Tales from the Borderlands game out this year, confirms Gearbox Software

During PAX East, Gearbox Software founder Randy Pitchford revealed that a new Tales from Borderlands game will be announced this summer and will be released this year.

Gearbox Software is working on this new game in-house, which will be interesting as this will be the first time the company will work on a story-focused interactive title. The developers that worked on the first Tales from the Borderlands game was Telltale Games, a studio that shut down in 2018 but was revived less than a year later and is now working on releasing The Wolf Among Us 2.

Tales from the Borderlands will be published under 2K Games as they made it official by announcing via Twitter that a new game is coming later this year.

“This time, we’re doing it to imagine all new characters and all-new stories from the Borderlands. So soon we’ll be announcing an all-new game set within the Borderlands universe and presented in that style of interactive fiction. I’m talking about an all-new Tales from the Borderlands adventure.” said Pitchford during their presentation in PAX.

Beyond this, we don’t know much of the project, but hearing that a new Tales from the Borderlands game is being worked on is exciting news as it’s one of the best interactive stories that came out during the era when episodic games were a thing.
