New Final Fantasy XVI Trailer Titled ‘Ambition’ Focuses on the Lore and Its Characters

Square Enix released a new trailer for their upcoming RPG Final Fantasy XVI titled ‘Ambition’ which focuses on the game’s lore and the many characters you’ll meet in the game. It’s a length trailer that’s more than 4-minutes long and while they do focus on story, we still see a fair share of Eikon battles.
In this trailer, we are given an introduction of each region fighting for power and claiming what’s left of the Mothercrystal. A good amount of Dominant and their Eikons (the game’s versions of summons) were featured in this one as we see Eikon Garuda, Shiva, Titan, Ramuh, Phoenix, and Ifrit battling it out. Previous trailers have shown how the Eikons do battle and in this one we get more of what seems to be an epic one on one fight with a fighting game-inspired UI.
“Rise, ye crownless kings. A reckoning is upon you. A war..of the Eikons”. Summons are again the main focus in a Final Fantasy game but this one is going all-in to being a high-fantasy political drama between nations.
I’ll be honest, the more we learn about this game the more intrigued what Square Enix is creating. Final Fantasy XVI still has no firm release date but the team working on the project is aiming for a Summer 2023 launch window.
