Like a Dragon 8 Announced, Will Feature Both Kiryu and Kasuga

Like a Dragon 8 was officially announced during the RGG Summit livestream event. A short teaser trailer was shown, showing Yakuza: Like a Dragon protagonist Ichiban Kasuga and the original series protagonist Kazuma Kiryu walking through Kamurocho side by side.

The new game will feature dual protagonists and while the team at Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio approached the seventh mainline title Yakuza: Like A dragon differently with a more turn-based RPG approach, it’s curious if they’ve decided to retain the same RPG gameplay or revert back to the series’ brawler beat em’ up roots with Kiryu now back in the spotlight.

With this being titled Like a Dragon, it seems like the team decided to stick with the name going forward in western releases.
Like a Dragon 8 is a long way from release as it’s set to launch sometime in 2024 on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC (Windows and Steam).

In the meantime, fans can look forward to Like a Dragon Gaiden: The Man Who Erased His Name, a spin-off action adventure title releasing in 2023 featuring Kazuma Kiryu as it explains the events after Yakuza 6: The Song of Life leading up to Like a Dragon 8.
