A Demo For Dragon Quest XI S Definitive Edition Is Now Available, And It's 10 Hours Long
/ Carlos Hernandez
Square Enix just released a new demo for Dragon Quest XI S: Echoes of an Elusive Age - Definitive Edition on the PS4, Xbox One and PC and it consists of the first 10 hours of the game.
Dragon Quest XI S was first released exclusively on the Nintendo Switch back in 2019 with a similar lengthy demo. Have a look at the trailer for the demo below.
The 10-hour demo is said to highlight a few changes done to this version of the game. Such as, the ability to speed up battles, the option to switch between Japanese and English voice acting, a different soundtrack, photo mode, and more. Probably the best feature to come from this version of the game is the ability to play the entire game in 2D, playing the game in true Dragon Quest form in 16-bit graphics.
If you like what you see after playing the demo, any progress carry over if you buy the full game, which will be available in December. As an added bonus, players who complete the demo’s main scenario will be given an item that gives characters an extra skill point if you choose to continue your progress after purchasing the game digitally.
As much as 10 hours sounds a bit enticing, that barely scratches the surface as Dragon Quest XI S is an JRPG where you can easily spend over 100 hours on the game.
The 10-hour demo of Dragon Quest XI S: Echoes of an Elusive Age - Definitive Edition can be found on the PSN, Xbox Store, Steam, and the Epic Games Store. The demo is enticing to get into the series but you’ll have to wait close to a month to continue past the demo content as the full game will be available on PS4, Xbox One, and PC on December 4, 2020.
So far, I’ve been loving my new console. It truly feels like a generational leap from the original Switch, even if its core concept remains the same. This may be simply an iterative, straightforward improvement over the original system, but I guess the thinking is that as the saying goes, “if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.”
