Bungie have revealed not only what’s to come as they move on to Destiny 2’s final season of Year 3 content, but also a glimpse of the future with the looter shooter's latest upcoming expansion called Beyond Light planned for this year.

The Season of Arrivals is here

The Almighty has fallen and this season will feature the first Pyramid ship to arrive on Io’s moon, which begins a new story line that will set up the pieces for the Beyond light expansion. A new dungeon called Prophecy will be available this season and will be available to all Destiny 2 players. The rewards for finishing it will be the DAITO Foundry armor. Players will also get to work on Trials of the Nine armor sets.

Io is where most of the new action will take place as the open space will be given new public events as the season progresses. And with it being a new season comes with a Season Pass that gives owners access to a new weekly mission, instantly unlocking the new exotic grenade launcher weapon, seasonal armor sets for each class, a Road to Ruin Exotic quest, and other benefits like bonus experience.

New expansions will make Guardians wield darkness

Beyond Light is the next expansion after Shadowkeep and is planned to go live on September 22. It adds a new destination called Europa, a moon of Jupiter and will feature a new power called stasis, which is apparently stems from Guardians being able to wield Darkness as a weapon. With this new power, the game will have a new elemental power joining the original three; Arc, Solar, and Void. So, yeah, new Supers and abilities are coming.

This expansion focuses on the Fallen enemy type, so you’ll be seeing them a lot when you explore the new Europa space. Destiny 2 raiders will be excited to know that the next raid will take place in Deep Stone Crypt, the birthplace of the Exo race, a group of human individuals that had their minds transferred into robot bodies. The most famous Exo character was Cayde-6, which sadly isn’t around anymore due to the events that took place during the Forsaken expansion.

More details will come to light as we get closer to the September launch but Bungie did reveal the names of the next expansion after Beyond Light; The Witch Queen and Lightfall, giving their community a hint at what’s to coming in 2021 and 2022.

Pre-orders for the Beyond Light expansion is now available on PS4, Xbox One, and Steam.
