Darkest Dungeon 2 Will Enter Early Access Via Epic Games Store In 2021
Red Hook Studios announced that Darkest Dungeon 2, a follow-up to the strategy dungeon crawler Darkest Dungeon is going to early access through the Epic Games Store in 2021. To celebrate the announcement, the studio released a trailer giving us a glimpse of familiar characters now designed in 3D.
Have a look below.
Based on the details in Darkest Dungeon’s official website, what you see above is “captured straight out of Unity, and uses the in-game character models and rendering techniques from the game itself.”
Darkest Dungeon 2 was first announce back in 2019 and since then there wasn’t any big updates from Red Hook until now. The sequel going to early access isn’t no surprise as the first game had the same approach, entering Steam’s early access program in 2015 then officially releasing a year later.
If history repeats itself, it will be worth the wait as Darkest Dungeon is one of the most challenging yet satisfying startegy rogue-like title out today and we’re eager to hear more about Darkest Dungeon 2 as we get closer to it’s early access release in the Epic Games store.
No word yet if the sequel will be released in consoles.
