Star Wars: Battlefront 2's Open Beta Starts This Week

Star Wars: Battlefront 2 will have an open beta this week on PS4, Xbox One, and PC.

Here are the start times:

Star Wars Battlefront 2 early access for those that pre-ordered begins on October 4 at 1 AM PDT / 4 AM EDT / 9 AM BST / 4 PM GMT+8.

Star Wars Battlefront 2 open beta begins on October 6 at 1 AM PDT / 4 AM EDT / 9 AM BST / 4 PM GMT+8.

The open beta ends on October 9, 9 AM PDT / noon EDT / 5 PM BST / 12 AM GMT+8 (Oct 10).

There will be four modes available to try once the beta goes live:

Galactic Assault - which is a 20v20 infantry match, will take place in Naboo's capital city Theed.
Starfighter Assault - the big space battle mode which pits X-wing and TIE fighters against one another.
Strike mode - a smaller game mode of 8v8 and it will take place in Max Kanata's castle on Takodana.
Arcade mode - which allows beta players to try out the versus-AI Arcade missions.

Based on what is being offered, it looks like EA and DICE want to give players a taste of everything the sequel has to offer. The only thing missing in the beta is the campaign mode, which is fine since I'd like to think we all want to experience it as a whole since this it's a brand new story set between episode 6 and episode 7.

Those who participate in the open beta will be rewarded a "Founder's Crate" in the full game. The loot crate apparently will include an exclusive emote for Darth Maul.

We'll see how it turns out, but based on what we know so far about the sequel, it might be worth checking out this week to really seal the deal if you want to get it when it comes out on November 17, 2017.
