A weird turn for Riot Games - killing off a character and making it not playable in the game. Everybody's favorite pirate Gangplank met his maker during the Bilgewater event in the hands of his nemesis Miss Fortune, leaving him MIA in the current character roster. Is this really the end for Gangplank? Probably not. [UPDATEGangplank didn't really die apparently. Act 3 has landed and Riot Games has reintroduced Gangplank with a new character design. He survived the assassination attempt, but lost his arm in the process. Here's the new Gangplank:

----ORIGINAL STORY----

It's interesting move by Riot Games to remove a character entirely for the sake of lore. Players are left scratching their heads and isn't so happy with the move, since I'm sure some of them paid for the character and his line of character skins. Here's what Riot Games has to say regarding his death:

Champion death is unprecedented in League of Legends, and we do not take it lightly. We encourage all Gangplank fans to remain calm for a few days until we can fully assess the situation. At this time, we are not addressing refund requests for him or his skins but please know that over the next several days we’ll do our best to make things right for everyone.

So yeah, remain calm.

Our take? He's going to be retooled and probably play differently once reintroduced, maybe as a ghostly figure? If not, only time will tell how Riot will address the players that invested on Gangplank.
