Skull and Bones Delayed Again, Now Set to Release in March 2023

The naval combat-focused pirated themed Skull and Bones from Ubisoft Singapore have been delayed yet again. Originally set to release this November, the game will now come out on March 9, 2023 as the developer needs more time to “ further polish and balance the experience”. Together with the delay, Ubisoft also announced an open beta for the game.

"This is the right decision both for our players and for the long-term success of the game as 9th March, 2023 provides for a suitable release window for this very unique new brand." says Ubisoft in the latest delay.

Skull and Bones was first revealed back in 2017 during Ubisoft’s E3 presentation, which also featured a gameplay walkthrough, showing the game’s naval combat. It was first slated for a 2018 release, but was delayed for the first time to 2019. (via IGN). It was then pushed to 2020. In 2021, Ubisoft delayed it again to 2022. Finally, it was delayed this week by months as it’s now set to be released on March 9, 2023.

An open beta for the game was mentioned before release but no date or details were given from Ubisoft. Since the project was announced, it experienced operational changes, a realignment in the game’s vision, to numerous delays. With how strong Ubisoft was pushing Skull and Bones with the reintroduction this year and it being part of Ubisoft Forward, many thought this would be the year, but sadly those eager to play the pirate game will have to wait for months yet again.

Skull and Bones is set to launch on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Stadia, Amazon Luna, and PC through the Epic Games Store and Ubisoft Store.
