Silent Hill 2 Remake Announced, Will Release on PS5 and PC

During the Silent Hill Transmission online broadcast Konami announced a remake to Silent Hill 2. The horror classic is being developed by Bloober Team for PC and is a PS5 timed console exclusive for at least 12 months after the game’s release.

The reveal was not a tease but actually a lengthy 3-minute trailer of the game as we see the foggy town to various unsettling elements fans will recognize from the original game as well as a Pyramid Head in all his glory. The remake is being developed with Unreal Engine. Masahiro Ito is reported to provide the creature design for the remake while AKira Yamaoka returns as the game’s composer. 

Bloober Team – known for their work on the game The Medium – expresses that they plan to not only remake the original but modernize certain elements, such as providing an over-the-shoulder camera angle.

"To put it simply, our goal is to recreate everything that made the game a timeless classic, but give it a new form which will draw players even deeper the into the foggy streets of Silent Hill," said Silent Hill 2 remake director Mateusz Lenart.

No release date was given.

The Silent Hill 2 remake wasn’t the only title announced during the Silent Hill Transmission broadcast. Silent Hill Townfall, Silent Hill f, and live interactive series called Silent Hill: Ascension, and a new film was announced.
