New Tales Of Arise Trailer Focuses On Story, And I'm Confused

During the kick off livestream event at Summer Game Fest, Bandai Namco revealed a new trailer for their upcoming JRPG Tales of Arise, the latest installment in the Tales Of series and this trailer focuses more on the narrative, introducing characters Dohalim and Kisara. Do we know what’s going on after watching? Of course not.

If there’s one thing i’ve learned when watching JRPG trailers, is that it’s stories is too convoluted that it’s best to focus at the new gameplay footage and save all that save the world JRPG story for when you play it. There’s not enough context to have a clear picture on what’s going on but at the very least the newly introduced characters Dohalim and Kisara are interesting additions to this band of characters due to their preferred weapon of chocie.

Dohalim uses a rod and you can see him twirling and spinning around towards enemies will Kisara is equipped with a hammer and a massive shield, suggesting that she focuses on defense for the group.

Here’s a quick description for both characters provided by Namco Bandai.

Dohalim - a noble from Rena with very different feelings toward Dahnans compared to other Renans. He is a very well-mannered gentleman with a particular sensibility towards forms of art like music, poetry or antiquities. He fights using his rod with a mix of techniques and astral artes making him able to adapt to his opponents.

Kisara - a Dahnan soldier who accompanies Dohalim. One of the most powerful soldiers in the Dahnan army, she is also highly regarded by Renan soldiers, even while using their equipment. She uses her hammer and shield to deal strong damages in close combat, but can also use her shield to protect her friends while unleashing high-powered and wide-ranging defensive techniques.

For Bandai Namco, more talks about Tales of Arise is planned this weekend as a special live stream is scheduled to go live on June 18, 7:30 PM GMT +8 / 7:30 AM EST.

This is just the beginning as E3 2021 is just around the corner this weekend and Summer Game Fest is now in full swing.
