Forspoken delayed to October 2022

Square Enix and developer Luminous Productions have delayed their open world game Forspoken as it’s now set to release in October 2022. It was previously set to release on May 24.

The developers simply need more time to polish the game, but this isn’t a big delay as the game just went from a summer release to a release in the fourth quarter, typically considered one of the busiest times of the year for video game releases. It may look clear right now, but that’s only because we are still in March and we’ll only have a clear idea of how busy the Ber months will be sometime in June.

Here’s the full statement from the developers:

“We have made the decision to move the release date of Forspoken to October 11,2022. Our vision for this exciting new IP is to deliver a game world and hero that gamers across the globe will want to experience for years to come, so getting it right is extremely important to us. To that end, during the next few months we will focus all of our efforts on polishing the game and can’t wait for you to experience Frey’s journey this fall.”

“Thank you for your understanding and continued support. We look forward to sharing more about Forspoken with you soon.”

Announced just last year, Forspoken is a new IP from Luminous Productions that follows Frey Holland, a woman living in modern day New York that was suddenly transported to the fantasy world of Athia, and is suddenly able to use magical powers to survive and traverse this new world.
