E3 2022 digital is now also cancelled

It’s official– E3 2022 is cancelled. Back at the start of this year, the ESA officially confirmed the cancellation of E3 2022 being a physical event and was planning to do a digital-only event similar to last year. Today it looks like that’s not even happening as well.

The announcement first broke out via a tweet from Razer PR lead Will Powers who received an email confirming the digital E3 event was also getting cancelled. IGN soon confirmed that the cancellation was true when ESA shared an official statement to IGN saying that E3 will return in 2023.

"We will devote all our energy and resources to delivering a revitalized physical and digital E3 experience next summer. Whether enjoyed from the show floor or your favorite devices, the 2023 showcase will bring the community, media, and industry back together in an all-new format and interactive experience. We look forward to presenting E3 to fans around the world live from Los Angeles in 2023." said the ESA in a statement they shared to IGN.

E3 is one of the biggest video game conventions and is mostly a beacon for the biggest announcements and reveals, giving the world a good picture of what’s to come in the near future from one of the biggest players in this industry. Since the Covid-19 pandemic hit, the ESA had to cancel the event in 2020 and only do a digital-only in 2021. Now, we’ll have another year without E3.
